Shorncliffe railway station is the terminus station of the Shorncliffe line in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. This line serves the Brisbane suburb of Shorncliffe.
As part of renovation works to this station, Solution Positive Architecture and Citicene delivered design upgrades to the Architecture and Landscape.
The site consists of a number of significant mature trees that have provided amentity and shade to the surrounds of the station for many years.
As part of the landscape works it was important to maintain and enhance this amenity, integrating any new landscape works with
the surrounding context.
Due to the nature of the facility, it was also important to consider crime prevention through environmental design principles such allowing others outside the station to view into the site and see what is happening (casual surveillance) and also to avoid any ‘hidden’ places within the landscape.
Other landscape upgrades include additional shade trees for carpark areas, lower storey planting to enhance pedestrian areas and pavement upgrades to access walkways.
